The Belle Vue Aces ended the Poole Pirates unbeaten record at Wimborne Road with a 49-41 win on Monday evening. It was nip and tuck throughout the meeting before the away side came on strong towards the end to take the victory on a tricky track. Scott Nicholls was the hero for the Aces scoring 12 whilst Hans Andersen scored 9+1 for the home side. The Poole reserves of Brady Kurtz and Adam Ellis got the first 5-1 of the evening in heat two before the Aces responded immediately in heat three as Nicholls and Craig Cook both hunted down the early leader Joonas Kylmakorpi, passing the Finn one by one in a stunning heat. The Aces then took the lead in heat four as Steve Worrall beat Chris Holder to the chequered flag with brother Richie Worrall in third for a 4-2 to the Aces. Watch the Belle Vue pair of Scott Nicholls and Craig Cook hunt down the lone Pirate to combine for a 5-1 to the Aces Two shared heats followed as Cook was controversially excluded for moving at the tapes twice in heat six. It was all level again after nine heats though as the Worrall brothers combined for another 4-2. Craig Cook was excluded in heat six at Wimborne Road The Aces kicked on from this point in proceedings though and hit a 5-1 in heat 10 as Matej Zagar won and Max Fricke worked hard to get past Kyle Newman in second. The Aces extended the lead in heat 11 as the impressive Nicholls swooped round Andersen on the back straight of the first lap with partner Cook in third for a 4-2. Reaction from both team managers as Belle Vue won at Poole in the Elite League Mark Lemons side essentially won the tie in heat 13. The Pirates pair of Bjarne Pedersen and Andersen gated on a 5-1 to the home side but Andersen got into trouble on the bumpy track and fell going into the fourth turn of the first lap and was excluded. Zagar was in good form in the re-run passing Kylmakorpi to take the win with Cook in third.Nicholls brought the win home for the Aces with one heat to go beating Holder with Richie Worrall in third giving them a ten point lead. Andersen won heat 15 with Pedersen in third for a Pirates heat advantage but it wasnt enough to stop Belle Vue taking the maximum four points from the meeting.
